The Up and Down - June 2024
General Manager's Update
June is here and it is crazy to think we are already here! I had the pleasure of getting out on the golf course last week for a round and I was thoroughly impressed with how well the course has recovered. Following the 6+ months of construction we endured last fall through this winter it was encouraging me to see the full picture of where we are at. Replacing the irrigation system was a wildly challenging and messy project. The recovery has been on the fast track... thanks for sticking with us through that disruption!
Our Give Back Scramble Tournament is being help Wednesday, June 26th. This is a fantastic annual event put on by the OGA Players Club & OGA Ladies Club. The tournament is a fundraiser for our local golf community with proceeds directly benefiting Woodburn Boys & Girls Golf Teams and our Junior Programing here at OGAGC. We would love to invite you to join us for the 2024 tournament. If you have not done so yet, get your team registered to join the fun!

PGA Junior League
We are now Two weeks into our PGA Junior League Program. We have roughly 80 golfers signed up this season in three different age groups! PGA Junior is an awesome program where kids get to have fun playing golf in a low-pressure environment, learning the techniques, rules, etiquette, but most importantly have fun and create new friendships.
Junior Camps
We unfortunately filled up our PGA Junior League programs to overcapacity quickly this year. Be on the lookout for other junior golf opportunities for all kids that didn’t participate in the PGA Junior League. You will find information on those in on our website in the Junior Golf Programs section.
Ladies Night
Ladies Night is BACK! We just finished up our first Ladies’ Night of the season. But it is not too late to sign up! We have 7 more weeks left to get out here and learn golf. This clinic is a mix of practice and on course experiences. Ladies’ Night is on Thursday nights with two sessions, one starting at 3:30PM and one starting at 5:00PM. Please reach out to me directly for more information.
Semi-private Lessons
Starting later this month I am going to start offering semi-private lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This lesson will be in small groups of 3-4 people. Each person will get 15-20 minutes of personal time of video analysis, swing diagnosis, personalized drills, and practice with feedback. They will cost $30 each and they will last an hour.
Events
Our event calendar is filling up! If you are still looking for an amazing venue to host your next golf outing, OGA is the place for you! For more information on pricing and dates, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Tip Tuesdays are coming back! Be on the lookout on our social media profiles for a summer series on how to play different shots on the golf course. As well as playing holes along with me getting course tips and strategies!

Superintendent's Update
Summertime is coming up on us fast. Water season is in full effect. We are still dealing with issues with our system. We are working on trying to find a fix for the issues.
Our rough mowers are out every day keeping up with the rough. We fertilized the end of March, and the grass will begin to grow a little faster. This also included our crabgrass control.
We continue to mow greens about 6 times a week along with rolling up to 5 times a week. We are spaying the greens every week with fertilizer, once a month with fungicide and wetting agent. The wetting agents help with dry spots on the greens along with helping with the firmness of the greens. It looks like we have two topdressings this month, and I hope to verticut these days also.
We are working on getting our landscape area to work properly. We have been replacing valves and changing nozzles and screens. We hope to have this area working the way it is supposed to by the end of the month. Most of these components are over 20 years old.
I hope to get some bunker work done this month. We have some sand to add to the green side bunkers. Once the first pile is gone, I will order some more and do our best to improve them. Bunker sand is expensive, and we will do as much as we can.
Have a great June!
Cheers!

Food & Beverage Manager's Update
Hello everybody!
Orchards Grill’s current hours of operation are 11am-7pm. Google Orchards Grill for the most current hours of operation.
Here is a link to our menu: https://www.ogagolfcourse.com/orchards-grill/about-orchards-grill
We also offer hot dogs, polish dogs, sandwiches (ham, turkey or tuna), and a snack bar for quicker on the go options for on the golf course. Out on the course, the new golf carts have touch screens capable of ordering straight to Orchards Grill. No need to use a phone anymore. Just place your order in the golf cart, and we will have it ready by the time you get to the clubhouse.
We will be getting a couple of different beers on draft soon. They are Rogue Dead Guy and Sam Adams Summer Ale. An ale inspired by the style of a German Maibock, brewed using Rogue’s proprietary Pacman yeast, Dead Guy Ale is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well-balanced finish. Sam Adams Summer Ale is An American Wheat Ale with a citrus blend of orange, lemon, and lime peel with a touch of pepper from West-African Grains of Paradise. We also have 4 other beers on draft, all available in 16oz or 22oz glasses:
· Modelo Especial
· Blue Moon Belgian White
· Deschutes Fresh Squeeze IPA
· Georgetown Bodhifaza IPA
Come and have sit down dining in the Orchards Grill dining room or enjoy the sunshine out on the patio overlooking the golf course!
