Teaching Philosophy
I pride myself on being a supportive instructor that delivers upon the needs of the individual student. I take into account learning styles, physical fitness level and ability, desire to practice and especially their goals in every lesson. I study the person almost as much as I study their swing. This allows me to be successful with a variety of students using a wide array of techniques to improve their performance. Students are allowed to explore the options of change in their golf swing and I have been fortunate to see significant improvement in my students along the way.
Total Game Approach
As an instructor I bring all potential resources to bear in order to maximize the students improvement. Technology, physical fitness, video and club fitting are all critical components to allow students to reach their goals. I have been fortunate to work with such noted Top 100 instructors as Laird Small and Dan Pasquariello (Pebble Beach Golf Academy), Jerry Mowlds and Vern Perry (Pumpkin Ridge), Rick Martino (PGA Learning Center) as well as Master Teaching Professional Grant Rogers (Bandon Dunes). I have also been fortunate to have extensive exposure to Andy Bennett and Mike Plummer (Stack and Tilt). Drawing from these and other sources has allowed me a library of information and experience to apply in my lessons.
Supportive Environment
I have found students respond to a supportive environment. They love to hear how well they are doing... especially when development isn't so obvious. Positive comments and constant support through give the student hope, a feeling of accomplishment and allow them to focus on the task at hand.
Have Fun!
Golf is a game and it is meant to be FUN. Many times players loose sight of this fact. One thing I am very proud to say is that my lessons are not to "work". They are meant to be FUN. If the student is not having fun and is "grinding" improved performance is much harder to obtain. Golf Instruction includes so much more than just the physical act of swinging a golf club. I am fascinated by the all aspects of the game and how they inter-relate. The mental aspects, physical aspects, club fitting, competition, technology, and even rules enter into my instruction. I like to cover even the simplest things such as how organize your bag, as I like to say, do what the "cool kids are doing."
